Bug Description

I seen this on Alamo with a random Promote crate next to a Dozer... I got the crate with a Grizzly, and both the Dozer and the Grizzly became promoted.

I know this is hard to reproduce, but I think it's possible that when a unit gets the crate, and it's effects apply around, it doesn't check the sides.

I'm pretty sure this is true for stock YR as well.

##### STEPS TO REPRODUCE #####
A bit hard but possible.

Have a crate and a neutral unit next to it. (Upgrade is the best) Get the crate.

Somebody with mapping skills should try this with non-neutral side as well.

Known for a decade and not a bug, imo.

you can also promote the dozer by running over units.

I think it gets a speed increase, which is a good thing.

It sounds like a bug to me, though. I'm okay with neutrals getting bonuses from crates if they occasionally run over it, but why should another side (aside from allies, perhaps) benefit from the crate, which i got?

Is your name on the crate?

well no, but the collector of an "upgrasde" crate deservrs the bonus more than enemy units near said crate.

do they get a "free unit" because they're near? no.
do they "reveal map" because they're near? no.
do they get a free promotiopn when they're near? yes, why?

crate bonus' should default to collector only, unless specified.
