unity dash recent files does not recognise when files are deleted

Bug Description
In my test, I had 3 image files in the desktop folder. Opened each of them with the default image viewer.
Each showed in the 'recent files' section on the dash.
I moved these files to the trash, but they still show in the dash. Once more, they do absolutely nothing when you click on them.
I have then emptied the trash. Still in dash.
Expected behaviour: delteted files should either be removed from the recent files in the dash, -or- when clicked on they should show them in the trash (where applicable)
NEEDS DESIGN: What should happen when a file in the recently accessed portion of the files lens has been deleted? Should it be removed from the recently accessed portion, or should it point to the trash?
