Bug Description

I'm taking backups across ssh on a server, and the connection hogs my network when backing up. I'd really appreciate some simple "pause backup" feature, both in the GUI (I'm using the Gnome GUI), as well as a right click option in the notification area. (That right click menu does not already exist, so it would need to be made)

Thnaks for a great app. Finally I'm taking backups as I should!

i agree with this suggestion. it would be very useful to have both a PAUSE and a CANCEL option for snapshots in progress.

I also wanted this feature, so I've written some code to provide a pause/stop feature in the GUI (not the notification area). This was tested on Ubuntu 10.04 so I don't know if it will run on other platforms. Hopefully the developers can take a look at it and include it in BiT if its suitable.

Attached are the updated and new files and a list of the diffs against the existing files of 0.9.99.35

Ignore the above patch. All of this has been replaced with a new code branch since its more than a few simple lines.

+1 for this feature request.

Would it be possible to add a pause/cancel function to the panel icon?
I'm using BiT within a script and do not see the gui when it's working except the icon in the panel (which is what i want)

Back in Time keeps crashing everything else on the machine. I think it's because it's using too much memory or too much cpu power. I can't check, because when it happens, the system monitor crashes, as does the desktop. Being able to pause the backup might help.
