Log file viewer does not open from the dash (opens OK from terminal)

Bug Description
Cannot open the Log File Viewer through the dash: clicking on the icon does not open the viewer and there are no error messages. Opening through the terminal by entering
gnome-system-log
opens the viewer (I assume it's the same package).
It's a fully updated 12.10 pre-alpha install, here's some basic info:
