Workspace switcher selection needs double-click

Bug Description

To switch workspace/desktop it currently needs 3 clicks - unnecessarily.

First click is to show workspaces as thumbnails, then to select a particular workspace/desktop it needs a double-click. As a single click does not provide any further functionality a single click on the thumbnail should be sufficient to switch to the selected workspace/desktop. Currently a double-click is needed.

Interestingly using a right-click immediately switches to the selected desktop - which I only discovered by accident when thinking that a single click to a desktop might bring up a context menu with a right-click - but it does not.
