Bug Description

Ubuntu Precise Pangolin 12.04, laptop with external monitor. One morning Unity turned black. Problem was solved with screen resolution applet because PC had choosed alone to turn on both screens, so it was a monitor choice and resolution choice problem. So Unity problem isn't visible. Nonetheless Unity says to report bug about ConfigureNotify.

When I do unity --reset if I CTRL+C, I get a graphical problem, can only copy-paste, not write, and windows border dissapear. After CTRL+C it says (I wrote it so ' isn't the good chararcter):
(compiz:2763): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

Hitting Ctrl+C on `unity` is supposed to do that, as you're killing Unity. Use `setsid unity` so you can close the terminal later. :)

As for the ConfigureNotify error, that's a duplicate of this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/877505 .

For the resolution/blank screen problem -- if you can reproduce it -- you may want to file another bug with this guide: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting
