New style SourceForge bug URLs are reported as invalid

Bug Description

This is probably a duplicate, but I couldn't find another.

Trying to associate a new-style SourceForge bug URL to a project (ie, I was trying to add http://sourceforge.net/p/liferea/bugs/836/ to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/liferea/+bug/486222) results in Launchpad reporting "Launchpad does not recognize the bug tracker at this URL."

Should this not be given a greater importance? The final and most important step for bug triage with software developed outside of Launchpad (most of Lubuntu, for example) is linking upstream bug reports. With Lubuntu, that's on SourceForge. You're the Launchpad dev, William, but just wanted to add that perspective so we can at least make this medium or high.
