Bug Description
Pressing the, for lack of a better word, "windows key" to show the unity launcher menu will only work if either there is an active window in the current workspace, or the "display desktop icons" option has been turned on in the unity tweak tool.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Install the unity tweak tool
2) Under System -> Desktop icons, uncheck "Show desktop icons"
3) Close all windows, or navigate to an empty workspace
4) Press the super key all you want.
