Bug Description

We have a lot of open bugs, which still need confirmation/retesting:
https://launchpad.net/compiz/+milestone/0.9.10.0

For the community and thus the Compiz project a working PPA with Compiz/Unity trunk would be a *very* important thing to have.
Only a large userbase running the latest versions can ensure regressions get noticed, reported and fixed quickly.

Unfortunately the PPA ( https://code.launchpad.net/~smspillaz/+recipe/compiz-development-head ) we have set up does not automatically update Compiz/Unity on Raring and thus is quite useless.

*UPDATE: WORKING PPAs FOR RARING AND SAUCY ARE AVAILABLE HERE*:

For Raring, Sam has setup this fully working PPA:

ppa:smspillaz/compiz-dev-raring

For Saucy use:

ppa:smspillaz/compiz-dev

Please help with testing, bug reporting and patching.

Let us make Compiz 0.9.10 the best release ever !

Trunk unity doesn't build on raring so this isn't possible AFAICT. Trunk compiz builds and runs fine on raring, but that's another issue.

Testers should upgrade to saucy.

You currently have to create a file in /etc/apt/preferences.d/ with following content:

Package: *
Pin: release o=LP-PPA-smspillaz-compiz-dev
Pin-Priority: 9999

to get the PPA to upgrade Compiz automatically, because the debian version 0:0.9.10 of the PPA is lower than originally supplied 1:0.9.9.
I have not tried, but am quite sure the same problem will exist with the PPA on Saucy as well...

If you've done that and try to upgrade, Unity has to be removed (on Raring), because " unity : Depends: compiz-core-abiversion-20130125" :(
