Bug Description

The following suggestion I consider is great for eOS due to the simplicity this brings to the system unlike other Linux distributions.

It could be nice if we could change drives' labels. For example, selecting a drive in 'Devices' category and right clicking on it, after that, drive's context menu could have an option to change the label.

I think it would be great due to other operating systems allow us to do that, instead, in Linux it's more difficult because you have to run the following command:

     mlabel ::"newName" -i /dev/partitionName

So, I suggest you add this great functionality if you consider it is correct, or add a device manager option in System Settings (Switchboard).

I do not think there is a way of changing the underlying system label for the drive using the Gtk toolkit that Files is based on, if that is what you are requesting. It would be best to use a specialised tool such as gparted for that rather than a filemanager. However, it may be possible to have custom labels in the sidebar for the devices just as it is now for bookmarks. If these are to persist between sessions they would have to be saved onto disk on closing.
