Bug Description

I would like to see an up-to-date version of enigmail in the official repositories for 13.10 and 14.04.
Version 1.6 was published in October 2013 (see changelog here: https://www.enigmail.net/download/changelog.php)

Here is the package in Debian http://packages.qa.debian.org/e/enigmail.html

It'd better to see an update for precise and trusty.

… an upgrade would apparently fix a bad interaction of enigmail with the latest version of thunderbird, according to the duplicate bug report 1312802.

Debian has it already, so it would need merging: https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=enigmail

Ultimately I don't think this qualifies as a papercut.

no longer affects: hundredpapercuts

Some time has gone by and I don't see any reasons for not updating the package.
But I neither can predict that there will be an update available soon. What is stopping you from having the "recent" version of enigmail in Ubuntu?

Any news?

What has to be done to get the debian package to Ubuntu?

If someone can give me hints on the workflow I would offer to do the work if I have the technical permissions to do it.
