As it's a virtual machine (VirtualBox 4.3.10), I can't do that. I
through that ubuntu-bug would mention the computer was virtualized.

Is there a way to do the same in command line, as the computer isn't
locked ?

I had this happen after an in-house script installed sssd. Either the package or the script modified /etc/pam.d/common-session and removed the line:

session optional pam_systemd.so

Restoring that line brought back the proper shut down functionality.

You're quite right !

This was a fresh Ubuntu 14.04 install except for the LDAP conf which was modified following an ubuntu 12.04 guideline and it happens to modify the /etc/pam.d/common-session

My mistake, I have missed the shift from upstart to systemd in the 14.04.

I have done a :

sudo dpkg-reconfigure libpam-ldapd libnss-ldapd nslcd ldap-auth-config

And the shutdown menu work as expected.

I there anything I an do to close the bug ?
