Mouse selects nothing and do not click on any element in the window

Do you use any extended input devices (tablet, pen)?

NO tablet or pen

inkscape version 0.48.5

use with windows 7

@Jérome - Does one of the following workarounds work for you?
Workaround 1: disable the application causing the interference (known applications: Divvy, StrokeIt, Dimscreen, Deliner).
Workaround 2: open Performance Options in Control Panel and select "Adjust for best performance" in the Visual Effects tab (see comment #14).

If so, I suggest we mark your report as duplicate of Bug #1131428.

Additional note for workaround 1: you may also have another mouse gesture/window manager/screen tool application that is not yet known to interfere with Inkscape. Don't hesitate to let us know if it's the case.

I think it was a one-time problem,
INKSCAPE works normally again

After I disabled some applications it returned not immédiately
but the next day it worked normally again,
so I cannot tell you how I did to put things in order.

No idea which of the applications you disabled could have caused the issue?
