Revisiting this bug now that the IDL-based pull list has been merged (bug #1653001 via bug #1437104). Is this still an issue? Can we get an example of the requested functionality?

The primary use case for our libraries is to be able to be able to filter by one or more shelving locations. The idea is that if somebody is working in the children's room, for example, they may want to generate a pull list for just those copy locations. I haven't heard that anyone filters on other fields. When the simplified pull list was first created, we were able to select multiple shelving locations.

I have heard from libraries that they like using this feature. However, after looking at it closely and consulting with mmorgan, we realize that the current feature to filter by copy location is not working, probably because the copy location's owner has been added to the label that appears in the selector? Based on my testing, I believe it stopped working in 2.10.

In a nutshell, then, our libraries would be happy if we could filter based on one or more copy locations. If there is any room for new functionality, I have also heard that if the filtering were something that could be saved as the other column options are, it probably would get more use since it can be time consuming to select multiple copy locations each time you use the pull list.

Of course, the Dojo grid filters. I got lost in the pull list UI's.

I hesitate to suggest this, because the proliferation of pull lists always bugged me, but we could add the Simplified Pull List to the browser client, if nothing else as a stop-gap until we have auto-magic filters for browser client grids.

This alone won't address the saved filters request or fix the shelving location filter bug (without additional fixes, anyway) but gets us back to where things are in the XUL client as far as the Simplified Pull List is concerned.

I can confirm that having the owning lib in the shelf location label breaks the Dojo grid filter, FWIW.

Alternatively we could create purpose-built filters for the one true web staff holds pull list.

Are there any other features of the simplified list that we're missing in the browser client pull list?

My preference is to maintain the one true holds pull. Would it be difficult to add purpose-build filters to the pull list that's there?

AFAIK, the only other missing functionality is outlined in https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1717010 - the ability to print what is on the screen in the order that it is sorted. We are able to print what's on the screen using CTRL-P, but it doesn't format properly in Chrome.

Thanks for looking into this Bill!

Other simplified pull list functionality requests are here in bug 1717010 -- 1) print all columns from screen (formerly bug 1442838) and 2) print holds list in screen order chosen (formerly bug 1715742). The 2nd implies to me the ability to multi-sort, i.e., first by location and then by call number, etc.

I would like to add some heat to this, since filtering the pull list is an important feature to our users. Filters we would need include:

Shelving location
Pickup library
# of Potential Copies

+1 to the idea of being able to save filters

I wonder if some of the filtering benefits introduced in bug 1831788 could be applied to the Holds Pull list in the future. The enhancements to the angular grids would cover a lot of what the Simplified Pull list did.

Since this discussion is focused on the AngularJS version of the pull list, I propose marking this "Won't Fix" in favor of bug 1968070, which requests filtering for the Angular pull list.
