This really isn't a bug. As that section of the node details page will soon allow you to add and remove tags from a node. I don't think we will be adding this ability back into MAAS 1.8. It worked for 1.7, because you couldn't modify the tags on the node details page, but in 1.8 probably 1.8.1 you will be able to.

I don't see what modifying the tags has to do with a tag being a hyperlink... they seem like different topics to me. For example, in landscape clicking on a tag brings you to a list of bugs with that tag. You can also edit the tags applied to a bug. Two different operations.

IMO it's weird and less useful to not be able to click on a tag.

This sounds quite odd.

Blake, doesn't every single tag system in the universe let you see a list of items associated with that tag? Regardless of whether the tags themselves are editable, I don't see how we wouldn't follow suit.

You can see a list of items associated with a tag on the node listing page. The only thing this will add is a like to the node listing page with that filter already active. I don't think it adds anything as you can do the same thing on the node listing.

But I will see if I can get it to work with the new tag management on the node details page. I think it might cause a weird user interaction, but I have not tested it.

It adds significant convenience:

As is, 3 clicks, 10 to 15 seconds:
    - I hit "back" to go back to the node listing page from the node details page
    - Click "Tags" to expand the tags section
    - Hunt down the tag I want (from a list of about 50 on my MAAS server)
    - Click the tag

With hyperlinked tags, 1 click, instant:
    - Click the tag directly from the node details page

Not sure where the weird user interaction would be there...

Agreed Jason, it is common practice, and useful to users, to hyperlink tags on the node details page.

Blake, we can follow the same interaction pattern as we use on charmdetails on jujucharms.com (example: https://jujucharms.com/u/kubernetes/etcd/trusty/2)

If you have concerns about user interaction we can include it in user testing we are undertaking this summer.
