High CPU usage for gala and X

Bug Description

The CPU usage is pretty high for Gala and X when the computer is idle (42% + 15%). I guess it's not significant for modern computers, but a Core 2 Duo @ 1.8GHz with a dedicated graphic card should be enough for running the desktop environment without slowing down more demanding applications.

For example, I tried Kubuntu 15.04 for two weeks just before upgrading from Luna to Freya (which had the same problem), the total idle load for X+plasmashell was more around 15%.

This is the case with both Nvidia drivers and Nouveau.

Gala usually consumes an average cpu 5% and its too much. When using Youtube in Firefox or Chrome, it spikes the cpu usage of Gala as well as Chrome or Firefox to 40 and 20 percent respectively which is huge and it causes the temperature to spike beyond 75 to 80 degrees Celcius. I have a Nvidia graphic card on my Dell XPS 14z L412 which I disabled using Nvidia settings app and the default graphic power resource is CPU gpu.

Every related bug is new or confirmed but no body took the initiative to fix the issue. Could anyone has at least temporary solution or explanation. I am using elementary OS insted of Arch Linux or Ubuntu Mate. Please don't make people in this community regret for their choice.
