For Mir, fixed in v 0.20.0, but performance of screencasting has been given a boost only recently in 0.22.0

But that's not the end of implementing that feature in our phones?
In few days/weeks will land FlymeOS 5 (based on Android 5.x) - are there any plans to change base of MX4 to newer one and support aethercast?

The feature itself is there now. What will follow is support for new devices, performance improvements and additional features like audio support.

That FlymeOS 5 will be available for the MX 4 doesn't mean anything for the version running Ubuntu which will be still based on an BSP with Android 4.x and that will not changed.

Also its not necessary to change to Android 5.x as pointed out with https://lists.launchpad.net/ubuntu-phone/msg20284.html
