Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

When using the cloned setup I get a crash on the desktop when I close the screen.
This happens when I have the computer booted with the screen blugged in.
    When I unplug the screen and then close the laptop screen, BAM!
    When I never plugged the screen in it is fine.

What I will try to do next, with the time, is test if anything done with xrandr first with crash xorg.

DESCRIPTION OF THE CRASH:
When I say crash I mean that is drops out and when I open the screen, I am back to the login screen as if I has rebooted. Nothing is saved from the crash. It is as if I press cntrl+alt+backspace.

Are you using the "i810" or "intel" driver? Please test "intel" if possible. Also, check out hardy alpha2.

Can you test if the following setting in xorg.conf makes the issue stop?

  Section "Device"
    ...
    Option "ForceEnablePipeA" "true"
  EndSection

If that eliminates the issue, then please let me know:

  * The output of `lspci -vvnn | grep -A1 "VGA compat"`
  * Your laptop model name and number

and I'll put in a quirk to fix this issue (see #138256 for more info).
