Bug Description
I moved my system SSD from a laptop to a desktop and since then (maybe it's unrelated), Wingpanel is unusably slow: it slides down pixel after pixel from the top of the screen in something like 2 minutes. The system says "wingpanel is not responding, do you want to kill it?".
Some very rare times, it behaves properly.
Attached is a strace excerpt I did, and I noticed there seems to be some kind of procedure which seems to be retrying every 2 seconds and it's failing for some reason (maybe the "Resource temporarily unavailable"?).

Wingpanel is currently running fine for some hours now but uses a huge amount of CPU and memory:
CPU% MEM% VIRT RES TIME+ IOR/s IOW/s Command

Maybe it's related, but 14 gigs seems a but excessive, as well as 42% of a dual-core 3.8GHz CPU :)
