Pod compose handles timeouts badly

Bug Description
If composing a machine takes longer than 30 seconds an ugly timeout error is returned. This should be handled cleanly and return the correct error to the caller.
30 seconds might not be long enough to wait either, that might need to be increased. I think anything over 60 seconds is to long.
