Unexpected change of position in the tree (or sub-layers?)

Imagine grouped objects, or even groups of grouped objects.

Expected behaviour: On the drawing area, when I select objects at a certain level of the tree (not at the root) and right click > Move to layer... the current tree level (or position in the tree, represented by the drop down list in the status bar) shall not changed.

Observed: Once the objects have been moved, it is changed to the current layer. Which means that you have to double click and double click again on the objects to return back to the level you were.
