CMYK import into Scribus

Bug Description

I have tried to create a CMYK palette in GIMP, and create a shape in
Inkscape to be imported in Scribus.

Unfortunately it seems there is no way to get Scribus to import a SVG with
CMYK, and while this is not a problem for shapes where there is only one
colour, logos and more complex shapes would require the creation of CMYK
colours in Scribus (for one or two it´s ok) and then the rework of the
shapes reapplying the right colours...

Knowing palettes can be imported from GIMP, well I resorted to creating the
palette first, and then importing the palette in Inkscape... alas my
propietary AI does this a lot better, and this is so essential in designs
for printing!

Please please how high is CMYK support on the agenda?

Cedric

To clarify my request, I mean that all colours in Inkscape are created in
the RGB space, which means that even when defined with CMYK arguments, the
SVG file which is imported by Scribus creates colours in RGB.
These colours then need to be coded again in the CMYK space using values
which need to be kept safe outside the application.
I experienced this with our company´s logo where black came out as
diluted gray.

I found that the long way round was attempting to create a palette, and
the short way round to re-encode the colours in Scribus in the CMYK space,
one by one...

Inkscape has been fixed to support icc-color() and now allows for true CMYK values to be stored. Things have been coordinated with the Scribus team, and they have been supplied with samples.

They still have a bit of work to do on their side, so it won't show up there immediately.

Changed in inkscape:
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: New → In Progress

Isn't this fixed ? If I understand correctly, this worked the last time I checked ...

The dev version of scribus has now added initial import of our icc-color() colors. I think we're done on our end now.

JonCruz: The cmyk values taken are the values in the CMYK sliders or the ones in the CMS tab?
If it's the latter, could you please give some pointers about how to use it? I attached the profile but attaching a profile to a fill using the CMS tab produces a huge color variation that cannot be corrected.
What about if I want to creat a fill that is 100% magenta, for instance? How do I achieve that?

btw, once you apply the profile the change it's not preserved. The fill returns to "none" instead of the selected profile. If you apply the profile again it changes the color again.
If you try to tweak the color using the cmyk sliders (once the profile is applied) the sliders disappear and it jumps back to "none".
I am missing something or that isn't working?
