Bug Description
it is a fairly common feature for graphics software
(including vector graphics software) to export/save as
Adobe PSD
saving to PSD would allow more information to be
preserved as layers rather than saving as a flat PNG
(similarly support for MNG would be nice but that is a
for another report to worry about.)
it could be useful for sharing documents with other
graphics software (the gimp may have SVG import but
other software does not).
the gnu image manipulation program includes a library
for PSD support
imagemagick/
and developers might be able to reuse this existing work.
(Before anyone works on this is is probably better to
improve other aspects of export/save first. Inkscape
currently only exports to PNG but it should be
relatively easy to add support for other formats
supported by gdkpixbuf such as JPEG)

+1
This is a very good idea, because this would make Inkscape
more popular among designer and specially webdesigners
creating layouts in photoshop. Inkscape would then be the
"first step" in creating web graphics that would then be
"enhanced" in a bitmap editor (photoshop, imageready,
fireworks, photopaint...)
Also, this would make Inkscape more "professional", since
PSD is de fakto one of the standards (among tiff and eps) in
desktop publishing (Adobe Indesign users will agree with me.)
