Bug Description

Is there any chance Inkscape would support math inside drawings? MathML is
XML-based...

please could you describe in detail what you expect:
-new user interface / widget
-new drawing tool
-should inkscape render MathML on its own
etc.

Rendering MathML directly could be tricky (I'm not sure how SVG and mathml could be combined in a single Inkscape document). Another option to consider would be to convert MathML to SVG...

SVGmath is an all-python MathML->SVG converter that is under active development:

So a couple options:
 -an extension that allows you to paste in mathml, and have SVG generated and added to the document (this could be 'live' in the sense that you could edit the mathml and have the svg be updated)
 -a simple equation editing tool that generates mathml, which is in turn rendered to SVG

There are also a lot of bugs requesting LaTeX support...
