Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

I have icon appearing informing me that I have a updated ready and when I click on it, update managerr starts and I have

Could not initialize the package information

A unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:

'E:Malformed line 85 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (URI parse), E:The list of sources could not be read.'

also the icon has the following label
"This usually means that you have installed a package with unmet dependency"

Markus,

I was able to detect the problem.
It was related a entry in the appeared on /etc/apt/sources.list this
entry was pointing to a location that was not working (third party
software). Once I removed it the line and the package that was
associated to it it worked fine.
