Alt+Tab is very slow when thumbnails are enabled

Bug Description
When I have thumbnails enabled (Window Preferences / Alt-Tab / Show thumbnails in Alt-Tab), it takes roughly 1 second from pressing Alt-Tab until the window switch actually occurs.
If I turn off thumbnails, window switching is instant.
