Clock: World time menu expands beyond screen borders

Bug Description

I'm using Ubuntu Hardy with all patches and I experienced a bug concerning the world time applet.

Whenever my mouse cursor is over one of the location entries so that the button for the preferences appears, the whole applet menu, including the graphical map and calendar, expands to let the button fit in.
I have the clock applet at the default location in the top right corner next to the shutdown button and therefore the panel expands beyond the screen borders.

Closing and reopening the menu works to fix the expansion, but it still is annoying, especially because this occurs in the default position of the panel.

I can confirm this behavior in Hardy Heron. Attached to this message is a screen shot of the problem. Notice that the right side of this menu is cut off. This is due to it being off the edge of the screen.

Let me annotate that in some localizations (like German), the button's text could be longer then "Set...".
In the German localization, it's "Einstellen", so it occurs everytime, when there is displayed that on the location there is another day then on the home location.

With the longer caption of the button, the effect is more distinct. I have made a screenshot, too, to demonstrate this.

I can also confirm this in Hardy updated as of 2008-06-19.

Hi!

Confirming that this is still a problem in Intrepid 8.10 Beta.

Also came to confirm that it still exists. I have no idea how Gnome handles the resizing of a window but it seems that a simple solution would be to snap the popup to a screen edge if it overlaps, and then check for an overlap whenever you resize it. Essentially, the exact same behavior you get when a user moves a window near the edge and 'snap to edge' is enabled.
