Bug Description

Description: Ubuntu 8.04 (LTSP server mode)
Release: 8.04

I am running sabayon 2.22.0 if that does matter.

What happens is that I am not able to create new users. I have created one new user a few days ago (it may be before adding sabyon).

tgra@LTSP:~$ sudo users-admin
[sudo] password for tgra:

** (users-admin:5896): CRITICAL **: Unable to lookup session information for process '5896'
tgra@LTSP:~$ users-admin

(users-admin:5940): Liboobs-CRITICAL **: create_dbus_struct_from_user: assertion `(login && password && homedir && shell)' failed

(users-admin:5940): Liboobs-CRITICAL **: Not committing due to inconsistencies in the configuration, this reflects a bug in the application

tgra@LTSP:~$

i'm having trouble understanding what this has to do with sabayon.

if you are trying to run users-admin inside of of the user profile tool itself, that is not supported, since the sabayon user should not have such privileges.

If that is not what you meant, please explain

After installing sabayon my users-admin fails to add new users. New users appear in the GUI-list but not in the more important /etc/passwd. Worked fine before I installed Sabayon. I have find out that this is due to the sabayon-admin user have no homedirectory in /etc/passwd.

sabayon-admin:x:1001:1001:Sabayon user::/bin/bash

After adding a non existing directory for the sabayon-admin the users-admin works again.
sabayon-admin:x:1001:1001:Sabayon user:/nonexistent:/bin/bash

This seems to be a bug in the sabayon-package, which creates incorrect user in /etc/passwd.

thx @Anders:

thats it!

i can confirm the problem and the resolution on 2.26.1 (Ubuntu 2009-05-06) 2.6.28-14-generic (#47-Ubuntu SMP Sat Jul 25 00:28:35 UTC 2009)

my completed line in passwd is:
sabayon-admin:x:1001:1001:Sabayon user:/nonexistent:/sbin/nologin

after adding the pseudo homedir users-admin works as expected.
