Full screen shortcut (F11) in firefox3 not available in the dell mini9: needs new shortcut

On my Dell Mini with Ubuntu 8.04, the F11 key has been mapped to the "Windows" key. It work just fine for me. That was out of the box, I didn't have to remap the key. I am able to use Firefox full screen.

The Windows key doesn't work for me.

The Windows key is indeed what was mapped for this function. We may need more information specific to your system if it is not working for you such as have you modified any software or config are you system.

It would be at least appropriate to change the shortcut indication in the View menu from "F11" to "Windows". It's a big usability bug, and it should not be closed.

The shortcut to the "windows" key is available only when maximus is running. Since i disabled I don't have that functionality. Still I think renaming F11 in the view panel would be useful, and probably very quick. However I start thinking that there isn't all lot of development in hardy for the dell mini....

With the new BIOS A01 and A02, the keys F11 and F12 have been remapped:

F11 -> Fn+Z
F12 -> Fn+X

Marking as confirmed since this is not yet closed. The view menu is still out of date since there is no F11 or F12 (at least on some machines) despite the remapping of the keyboard in the most recent BIOS. Marked bug #290526 as a duplicate as it is not a separate bug, someone just wanted extra consideration. Suggested action is rewriting view menu to indicate fullscreen can be toggled with either Windows key or Fn+Z (either one).

The easiest would be to reword the shortcut as Fn+Z. No need to remap.
