Bug Description

Crossover Office worked in earlier versions of Ubuntu 5.10 and earlier but is broken in Dapper. The error message is "There is not enough memory or hard disk space". The culprit seems to be the kernel config file. In earlier versions has CONFIG_4G set while the dapper release have CONFIG-2G set.

Any pressing reason for this change in the memory model?

Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'linux-image-2.6.15-16-686'; however, that package was not published in Baltix.

Current Baltix GNU/Linux distro is based on Ubuntu Breezy and doesn't have linux-image-2.6.15. Why you reported this bug in Baltix distro?

This is a mistake. This bug was found only in Ubuntu Dapper.

Just tried to install CrossOver Office (5.0) in Dapper RC (with kernel 2.6.15-23). The basic package installs fine, but I can't install anything in CrossOver.

I either don't get the same error message (or any error), or I don't know where to look for the error message (it isn't in any of my /var/log files).

Just tried an install of MS Word (to prove to a publisher that it works). The install takes forever, and progress is painfully slow. Just tried it in the background all day (8 hrs), and maybe 50MB of stuff got installed.

The system is my laptop, 768MB RAM, 20GB in the Dapper root partition.

The updated kernel (2.6.15-25-386) seems to help. I'm now able to install MS Office 2000 on CrossOver. Can't speak to the other issues, but the update has helped me, thank you.
