Bug Description

The problem was encountered when executing the following in Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex)

sudo apt-get install tetex-base tetex-extra latex-ucs

Same for the texlive-lang-german package.
Installed in 8.10 via sudo apt-get install

/tmp/fmtutil.eFe24863 says:
