Bug Description
Simple test, create an ~/.Xdefaults file containing:
XTerm*geometry: 80x40
save and type "xterm" from a terminal or launch it from gnome's command runnr (Alt-F2). The resulting xterm session still has a 80x25 geometry, the default.
Now, type "xterm -geometry 80x40" and it works.

An update. It seems that xterm only reads .Xdefaults once each session, that is I need to log out and log in again for changes to affect the application instead of simply restarting the application itself.
Very weird.
