Bug Description

Ubuntu 9.04

gnome-utils 2.26.0-0ubuntu1
yelp 2.25.1-0ubuntu5

Steps I did:
 - press PrtScr key
 - in the Screenshot dialog, click Help
 - as nothing happens, click again

after a few seconds one, then another help window appers. Both empty (white).

After an eternity (15 seconds), some content appears in them, but then both disappear.

Later on that day:
 - press PrtScr key
 - in the Screenshot dialog, click Help
 - after a second the help window appears, empty
After another 15 seconds, finally I can see the help (with errors, another bug report).

15 seconds is way too long for help to appear. This is not a 486 running an RLL hard drive...

Thanks for the report, that works fine here, do you get that behavior only with the gnome-screenshot application? could you see if there's any yelp process running with top just after clicking on the help button? thanks.

I just tried a fresh install in VMWare.
After clicking help in gnome-screenshot, it takes 4 seconds for the help window to appear and then 8 seconds more for the content to appear.

It is a fresh install with defult settings.
This happened on a fresh boot, right after login. No other programs started.

I looked with "ps auxw | grep yelp" and it did not find any at any time.

For the gnome-screenshot it always loads the help about 10 seconds.
For gcalctool it loads instantly.
For Disk Usage Analyzer (Baobad 2.26.0) it does not load at all due to some invalid URI error.

I tried on another PC (same SW versions).
There the screenshot help window appears 1 second after clicking the Help button, but is empty, the only after 7 seconds the contents appear. During that time one CPU core is 100% busy with process gnome-help.

This is an Intel Core2 Duo T7200, two core modern CPU running at 2 GHz and the help is a single page with two tables. Makes one think that 100 MHz computers could'nt possible have any GUI ...

Ubuntu 9.10 desktop i386 LiveCD

It takes about 4 seconds for the Help window to appear, the additional 13 seconds during which the CPU is 100% loaded, for th actual help text to appear.
(this is with the screenshot help, as in the original report)
The process using the cpu is gnome-help
