Using a VirtualBox instance of Karmic...
Expected with gedit:
1) Open remote file
2) Edit remote file
3) Save remote file without crash
What happened:
1) I opened a remote file with gedit (the file was in the Public folder of the host system; Ubuntu 9.04)
2) made changes to the file
3) attempted to save changes to the remote file (file had read/write permissions)
4) after a short delay crash occurs, gedit disappears...
Note: despite crash, changes were correctly saved to the remote file
