I turned off all sounds and i still get a Beep during Shut Down & Restart

Bug Description
I turned off all sound on the sounds tab in Sound Preferences and i still get a Beep even when i put a earphone in the headphone jack.
It seems to be coming from an internal speaker connected to the motherboard.
I did not have this priblem when i had the desktop edition 8.04.
I am currently using desktop edition 9.04. I have a Dell Inspiron 1705 Laptop
