Inkscape 0.46 screen UI doesn't update in Windows XP

This is what scrolling looks like to me in Inkscape 4.6 on Windows XP.

Here is an example of the UI not updating, and this is when I need to minimize and then restore the window to see the dialog box.

This is what I see when I place my mouse arrow over a menu option then go to another menu.

Here is another example of Inkscape 4.6 not updating the screen. I have already clicked save but the dialog remains onscreen.

After the save dialog box was stuck onscreen it was time to manually force the window to update. So, it calls for a minimizing and then restoring the window. As seen in the attached image.

Is Inkscape the only affected application?
Could you please try a recent dev version (http://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape/files/inkscape/0.47pre1/) and confirm you still have this bug?

I remember seeing similar images (I think from Firefox users on Windows), especially the menus and dialog boxes leaving trails. IIRC the errors were related to settings regarding the video or graphic adapter, not to specific applications. I had no luck finding references or links though.

I completely uninstalled Inkscape 0.46, including personal preferences, and then I installed 0.47 prerelease, I made sure to select delete personal preferences just in case the previous version (0.46 uninstall) forgot anything.

When I run Inkscape 0.47 pre I notice a vast improvement in performance. The problems with the screen UI not updating, which, by the way, was confined only to the Inkscape 0.46 program, are gone and screen elements are updating themselves in realtime with a bare minimal of lag time (<1 second).

Inkscape 0.47 pre doesn't produce ghost menus when selecting a menu option and then selecting another menu.

After saving a document in Inkscape 0.47 pre, I no longer have the Save dialog box frozen on screen.
