Mi pc no inicia con Ubuntu

It is important to know what were you doing. did you upgrade packages/programs in that session? Did you changed any configuration file? Anything weird? Maybe you changed the logging window. What's your distribution? Hardy/Intrepid/Jaunty?. Note that the importance of the bugging process is not to fix your coputer (that can be useful to you ;-) ) but to be able to reproduce it so the bug can be fixed.

We need some information.
Just boot the computer and when you get the black screen that hangs the computer press CTRL+ALT+F1. You should see a text screen where you can write your user and password. Once you have login in see if there is an error. For example type:

lsb_release -rd
tail /var/log/Xorg.0.log
grep EE /var/log/Xorg.0.log
tail /var/log/syslog

It can be useful to send that to us, but I assume that you would have to type it into another machine so say if something is strange.
Maybe you can write it to a file:

lsb_release -rd > file
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log >> file
cat /var/log/syslog >> file

and send it by ftp (you had to use the ftp command line program).

Anyway, If you need that computer you can boot the machine, and when you see something like "Grub loading. Press ESC to enter the menu". Press ESC there and go to "(recovery mode)". Maybe it works

Es importante saber que estás haciendo. ¿en esa sesión habías actualizado algún paquete/programa? ¿Cambiaste algún fichero de configuración? ¿Algo extraño? Quizás cambiaste las propiedades de la ventana de entrada. ¿cual es tu distribución? ¿Hardy/Intrepid/Jaunty? Ten en cuenta que la importancia del sistema de fallos no es que se arregle tu ordenador (que puede serte util ;-) ), sino poder reproducir el fallo y así poder arreglarlo.

Necesitamos alguna información.

Arranca el ordenador y cuando tengas la pantalla en negro donde se bloquea, presiona CTRL+ALT+F1. Deberías ver una pantalla de texto donde puedes escribir tu usuario y tu password. Una vez que hayas entrado mira si hay algún error. Por ejemplo escribe:

lsb_release -rd
tail /var/log/Xorg.0.log
grep EE /var/log/Xorg.0.log
tail /var/log/syslog

Sería util que nos lo enviaras, pero supongo que tendrías que teclearlo en otro ordenador así que di si hay algo extraño. Tal vez puedas enviarlo a un fichero:

cat /var/log/syslog >> fichero

y enviarnoslo por ftp (el ftp tendría que ser en linea de comandos).

En cualquier caso, si necesitas el ordenador puedes arrancar el ordenador, y cuando veas algo como "Grub loading. Press ESC to enter the menu". Presiona ESC y pusa en la opción que pone "(recovery mode)". Quizá funcione.

@Alfonso: no es necesario contestar en dos idiomas. Y... por qué pedir información de línea de comando sin saber si puede entrar a un terminal ?

@visison: Hay algún mensaje de error cuando llegas a la pantalla negra con el cursor ? Sería necesario compartir ese mensaje para poder ayudarte.

Asimismo... ves la invitación "Grub loading. Press ESC to enter the menu" en algún momento durante el arranque ? Como indica Alfonso podrías presionar ESC y escoger la primera opcioón que tenga "recorvery mode" al final...

Vuelve y nos cuentas si logras araancar en Recovery mode. No tendrás pantalla gráfica pero a partir de ahí se pueden diagnosticar/ayudar de otra manera.

Gracias Alonso y Fabian, no hay ningun mensaje de error ni la invitación "Grub loading", arranca como si todo estuviera normal pero en lugar de darme la pantalla de interfase me da pantalla negra y ahora ni siquiera puedo mover el cursor del mouse.
Lo único que puedo haer es entrar al set up de la maquina oprimiendo F2, ó F12 para cambiar el dispositivo de boteo.
Voy a conseguir un CD-Rom externo para botear desde este y tratar de reparar el sistema si no formatear y volver a cargar el sistema.

Hola amigo ya trataste de probar entrar en el modo recovery, yo soy algo novato pero iniciar en el modo recovery me ha ayudado en algunos problemas, me imagino que al inicio te aparece conque sistema operativo quieres entrar si es que tienes dos sistemas instalados y si no funciona pues quiza la solucion sea formatear.
