it works fine for me. Which firefox version are you using? and are you sure to have installed flash correctly?

How can I tell if Flash is installed correctly? I am using Ubuntu
9.04. The files do play from Firefox on Windows Vista.

looks like you didnt install flash correctly. You should follow these easy steps:

1) enable multiverse repository, if not done yet
2) apt-get install flashplugin-installer

The package's page is:

for karmic: http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/flashplugin-installer
for jaunty: http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/flashplugin-installer

Any other information you may require can be found at:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/Flash

Thank you for your reply. I did as you suggested, it still does not work.
The multiverse repository was already enabled.
I did the install flashplugin-installer but it said that it was
already installes.
So in removed it and then installed it. That time it said that it did
the instillation.
It still does not work. All that I get is a black screen.
Any ideas?

If you're using a 32-bit install, then you should purge
flashplugin-installer, enable the Canonical partner repository, and
install the adobe-flashplugin package.

Also, try to install nspluginwrapper, if you don't have it installed
already. It can help.

sudo apt-get remove flashplugin-installer
then
sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer

Did I miss something?

I just tried that. nspluginwrapper was installed so I removed it and
reinstalled it.
sudo apt-get remove nspluginwrapper
then
sudo apt-get install nspluginwrapper

Same result. The vidio just shows a black screen.

What you did is:

1) purge flashplugin-installer
2) install flashplugin-installer again

You should do this with a 32-bit installation only anyway.

if you are running amd64, you could try to get the .deb file directly here:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/flashplugin-installer

Download the one under Architecture: amd64

And anyway as Daniel and me said you before getting the flashplugin-installer from the canonical partner repo should be done with 32-bits installations only. So looks like you are under an amd64 machine.

Thank you and every one else for all of your help. However flash is
still not working. I think that I followed this link all of the way.
Is it possible that the problem is somewhere else? Are there ways to
tell if flash is installed correctly?
