Bug Description

Today I update my ubuntu 9.10 (as always) and my system is dead. Kernel loading ok, when init scripts starts then I get:
...
/scripts/init-bottom
Done.
/dev/sda2 Permission denied.

and system is dead.
What to do ?!?!
I checked with diffirent kernels but problem is not with kernel.

Setting as critical, as it causes the system to fail to boot

Is this bug still a problem?

I have this bug or something very similar. Running Maverick 10.10 wth all updates. It occasionally fails to launch X or anything else for that matter. After the dots on the boot screen, it just sits there with all the dots out and not responding. System wil shutdown and reboot with ctrl-delete, so kernel seems alive.

How can I further diagnose this???

PaulN: Your problem does not seem to be related to mounting a fs. If you have still not found a solution, best is to post a question in Ubuntuforums.

I am closing this report due to lack of activity. We should not have a 'critical' bug report standing open unless it actually is critical.

If the problem still exists in 10.10, feel free to open a new report.
