Hi! I attach to the letter two files, save from Visio. In Inkscape
inscriptions in both files are displayed incorrectly.

thanks for the files. The emf import routine was modified in bzr rev 10045, Feb 10, 2011, to allow for unicode text. Attached is the result I get when I load the emf file sh1.emf.

Could you try a recent build for Windows, and see if it helps? These are available at:
http://inkscape.modevia.com/win32/?M=D
the most recent build is bzr rev 10080.

The attached emf imports correctly (or at least it seems so).
The attached svg crashes inkscape on loading (on windows vista 64 bit trunkrev 11789 and devlibs r35).

Recompiled Inkscape with current trunk (r11810 and devlibs r36).
No problems anymore. Marking report as fixed.

  - the svg file appears to be blank, due to a white rectangle which covers the whole page. After moving the rectangle, the image underneath looks good.
  - re-opening the report due to a recent regression

This recent regression with native EMF input no longer reproduces with current trunk r13673 and 0.91pre2 r13673 (on OS X). Closing as 'Fix Committed'.
