Bug Description

Binary package hint: tzdata

$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 9.10
Release: 9.10

Note: Running on a usb stick created wth usb-creator with 1GB extra space.

$ apt-cache policy tzdata
tzdata:
  Installed: 2009r-0ubuntu9.10
  Candidate: 2009r-0ubuntu9.10
  Version table:
 *** 2009r-0ubuntu9.10 0
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic-updates/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     2009o-1ubuntu2 0
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages

I expected the chromium-browser package to simply install, like it has on two other ubuntu NBR machines I have installed it on.
Instead this happened (see attachment).

I also tried this:
$ sudo apt-get install tzdata
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
tzdata is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 82 not upgraded.
1 not fully installed or removed.
After this operation, 0B of additional disk space will be used.

dpkg: error processing tzdata (--configure):
 subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 tzdata
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

also checked this:
$ ps -ef | grep dpkg
ubuntu 8190 7113 0 08:07 pts/1 00:00:00 grep --color=auto dpkg
$ ps -ef | grep apt
ubuntu 8192 7113 0 08:07 pts/1 00:00:00 grep --color=auto apt

so I don't understand what is locking it.
Will restart and see if it helps.

Never mind, this can be closed.
I didn't notice that the installer was running. It's a bit weird that the installer should block installation on the usb stick though, as the installer is supposed to intall on th har drive.
