Ubuntu should have a persistent clipboard with default installation

Bug Description

Please include a clipboard manager with Ubuntu by default.

Glipper is the one that comes to mind, but any one that provides persistent clipboard after a window is closed will be welcome. Graphics cut and paste support would be great, but just having text supported would be a big improvement.

I was just about to report the same thing. If you have a firefox window open, and copy the URL, after you close the window - the URL can no longer be pasted, etc. Very annoying.

Note, close firefox - not just firefox window.

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of this project.

- Adding a new package is not a papercut task.
For further information about papercuts criteria, please read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut.

Such decisions regarding adding new packages need to be discussed in the desktop mailing list.
Kindly bring up this discussion in the mailing list.

Hello mac_v

Could you give us more advice on what to do with the mailing list, and more specifically how does this problem relate to adding a new package, and which package?

Starcraftmazter: The One Hundred Paper Cuts project tries to focus it's efforts in certain areas, namely small changes. Adding glipper or another clipboard manager to the default install would not be considered a small change.

I know it's sometimes quite painful to copy something, close the window, and then find out that you can't paste. There have been some other bugs related to this problem and hopefully we can track those down and see what progress is being made.

I believe mac_v means this mailing list: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-desktop

Desktop mailing list [ https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-desktop ] , subscribe to the mailing list and bring up the topic about adding the new package to the default install.

This is also related to Bug #11334

just as a side note... GLIPPY would be better since GLIPPER hasn't been developed in ages. more reliable, more features etc too
But i'm sure there are lots of alternatives.
