Bug Description

Hello everyone,

I'm having exactly the same problem, but only since I've migrated to Windows 7.

A fresh install of the latest version of Inkscape didn't change anything.

Simply said, if I edit a text area, however big, it goes smoothly until I have some 500-600 characters, and then the typing becomes extremely slow - at a point, it is simply impossible to work, which makes me first type in a notepad, not exactly the best way...

I assume it doesn't come from my hardware (a Quad with 4 Gigs of RAM), as it never happened under Vista or XP...

Anyone else had a similar behavior, or even found a solution ?

An example .svg can be found here :

http://www.varkhan.com/varkhan/docs/HE/N4/NRT/Partage/20091216.svg

(it's a fake newspaper I edit every week, the text areas are quite big, but nothing extraordinary, I think)

Thanks in advance for any help...

Just to clarify my post :

"I'm having exactly the same problem" => should be edited out, I simply posted the question on the forum under another user's post reporting a similar problem, sorry.

I can reproduce this on both Inkscape 0.47 stable and 0.47+9590+1+1004 snapshot, Ubuntu 10.04.

Editing one of the main text boxes in the provided file is extremely slow (1, sometimes 3+ seconds delay between typing and display). I have a dual-core and one CPU is used 100% while editing.

When I create a new text box, typing returns to normal speed. After the text length reaches about 300 words I experience the delay again.

Problem is reproducible on a blank, new file. Choice of font or font arrangement (justified etc) does not seem to affect the problem.

Confirmed on Ubuntu 10.04, Inkscape r9605.
Inkscape becomes progressively slower after I reach about 5000-6000 characters in a flowed text box. Then a new character takes two seconds to render, with a short CPU usage peak (but no significant memory change).

I've got a quite similar problem here. when I'm typing characters as mentioned above, inkscape doesn't respond, everything stuck, even if I close the window.
