Bug Description

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8000 printer running on Ubuntu 8.04. I am using an AMD 64 bit processor. I just upgraded the driver from hplip 3.9.10.68 to 3.9.12.29. On double sided printing, the top and bottom headers now seem to be in the proper place, but the back side (odd numbered pages) are now upside down and are a mirror image of what they are supposed to be. Tried using both Firefox and OpenOffice.org. word processor.

Hi Al,

I've just registered to report the same problem.

I'm also using HP Officejet Pro 8000 / Ubuntu 8.04 64Bit / hplip-3.9.12 / CUPS 1.3.7

When I select duplex printing with long edge the backside is printed in mirrored orientation. However printing with short edge (flip) duplex works fine.

Horst,

Thanks very much for your confirmation of the same print problem. I
also find that printing with the short edge (flip) works as is should.

IHi there

have to confirm the problem running HPLIP 3.9.12 under SuSE 11,1 with a Photosmart Premium c309g-m .

Confirming "mirror image" problem.
I get mirror image of back side even when I tell my printer to print double-sided with short edge (flip). I have tried both CUPS Web interface and the HP Device Manager for HPLIP 3.9.12 under Fedora 12 x86_64. I am using HP Officejet 6480. This happens when I print from AcroReader, Firefox, eVince, OpenOffice.org, etc. Weird...

I can confirm the bug with HPLIP 3.9.12 on gentoo with a HP OfficeJet j6424.
Flip (short edge) works as expected, though.

Same problem on Debian/Lenny and HPLIP 3.9.12
Hp Office Pro 8000
short edge (landscape) is OK
long edge (portrait) is mirrored

I can confirm the bug on gentoo, too.

SOLUTION:
However it is related to a ghostscript bug. So If you install a newer version (in my case app-text/ghostscript-gpl-8.71) everything works as expected!

summary: - HPLIP 3.9.12 backside is upside down mirror imaage
+ HPLIP 3.9.12 backside is upside down mirror image

Same problem for me on gentoo. Hp Office Pro 8000.

But updating ghostscript didn't help me. Was there something else you did to make it work?
