Bug Description

When I try to print a file I created, Inkscape goes through the motions of printing, but does not send any data to the printer. There is no error message. This happens whether I use the printer icon on the toolbar, use the file menu, or the ctrl+p shortcut. The printer drivers are up to date, as every other program I have prints correctly.

Windows 7 Professional
Inkscape 0.47
HP Deskjet F2430

It might be worthwhile to try to trap any error messages that are generated, using the method outlined at :
http://kaioa.com/node/63
This will involve running a small program called inkscapec.exe from a DOS prompt in the same directory where Inkscape is located.

Tried on Win 7 with Inkscape R9497 without any problems.
It takes some seconds to spool the job, but after about 5 to 10 seconds the printer starts.
My printer "Canon IP 5300" is connected with a print server but it should work even if the printer is connected directly to the computer.

Well, I tried the inkscapec.exe and there was no print-related error message. It doesn't matter whether I wait 5 seconds, 5 minutes, or 5 hours. It's as if the print command is being ignored.

I am not familiar with Inkscape R9497. I googled it, but all I get are websites in a foreign language. I don't do compiling, code, etc. I'm just a regular guy who downloads the program and installs it, expecting it to work. If it takes a bunch of code compiling, command line blah-blah, then I don't have the time for it (I have 6 boys).

I'm just trying to print out some vector graphics so I can use them as a paint mask on my boys scale model cars and pinewood derby cars, possibly converting them to a different vector format to be used on a vinyl cutter. Everything I've read says Inkscape is the best freeware/open source app out there for what I want. If that's so, then why won't it print a bloody image???

It is a short form describing a recent development snapshot build of Inkscape 0.47+devel. R9497 means it is based on revision 9497 of the current development source tree.

You can download a recent development snapshot build from <http://inkscape.modevia.com/win32/?C=M;O=D> - as of today (2010-06-17) the most recent official snapshot build is from revision 9492, but there may be a more recent build available anytime. These packages (e.g. inkscapeR9492-1006081319.7z) do not come with an installer, you can just unpack them into a directory of your choice and run Inkscape from there.
