Bug Description

Binary package hint: powerdevil

I just installed the Kubuntu lucid alpha and when the battery gets down to 25% (which is the default "low") it immediately suspends.

In the advanced battery settings of the power management control module it's set to suspend at critical.

Also when it suspends in this manner, when I try and start the laptop up again, it immediately re-suspends and the next time after that will boot from cold.

Are you sure it isn't caused by some setting in the Agressive Powersave profile (e.g. suspend after x min idle).
By default KDE switches to that profile when the battery is low.

Nope, I can leave the machine idle for ages and then it will suspend when it
hits the default of 20% "low" setting.

If the "Agressive Powersave" profile is set to suspend on idle but the "Powersave" profile isn't, the machine will suspend when it is idle and the profile gets switched (due to the low battery state).

So the suspension might be caused by the profile switch and not due to the "suspend on critical battery level" option.

I had a look at my settings and I can't see anything obvious that would do
this - and in fact it doesn't do it any more because I've fiddled around with
them so much!

However, I reported this bug before I had changed anything on a *fresh
install* so it might be worth double checking what the defaults are on the
profiles?

I can't reproduce the bug with default powerdevil settings.
Marking it as incomplete.

I guess it got fixed somewhere since I reported this then. Great!
