Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-codec-install

Using Pitivi, i want to edit a video that I created using Mythbuntu. It's an MPEG transport stream containing an episode of the Simpsons. Here's the details:-

alan@wopr:~/Desktop$ ffmpeg -i The\ Simpsons\ -\ Catch\ \'Em\ if\ You\ Can.mpg..mpg
FFmpeg version SVN-r0.5.1-4:0.5.1-1ubuntu1, Copyright (c) 2000-2009 Fabrice Bellard, et al.
  configuration: --extra-version=4:0.5.1-1ubuntu1 --prefix=/usr --enable-avfilter --enable-avfilter-lavf --enable-vdpau --enable-bzlib --enable-libgsm --enable-libschroedinger --enable-libspeex --enable-libtheora --enable-libvorbis --enable-pthreads --enable-zlib --disable-stripping --disable-vhook --enable-runtime-cpudetect --enable-gpl --enable-postproc --enable-swscale --enable-x11grab --enable-libdc1394 --enable-shared --disable-static
  libavutil 49.15. 0 / 49.15. 0
  libavcodec 52.20. 1 / 52.20. 1
  libavformat 52.31. 0 / 52.31. 0
  libavdevice 52. 1. 0 / 52. 1. 0
  libavfilter 0. 4. 0 / 0. 4. 0
  libswscale 0. 7. 1 / 0. 7. 1
  libpostproc 51. 2. 0 / 51. 2. 0
  built on Mar 4 2010 12:41:55, gcc: 4.4.3

Seems stream 0 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 50.00 (50/1) -> 25.00 (25/1)
Input #0, mpegts, from 'The Simpsons - Catch 'Em if You Can.mpg..mpg':
  Duration: 00:30:02.90, start: 19315.851811, bitrate: 3733 kb/s
  Program 1
    Stream #0.0[0x90b]: Video: mpeg2video, yuv420p, 704x576 [PAR 16:11 DAR 16:9], 15000 kb/s, 25 tbr, 90k tbn, 50 tbc
    Stream #0.1[0x90c](eng): Audio: mp2, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 192 kb/s
    Stream #0.2[0x90d](NAR): Audio: mp2, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 192 kb/s
    Stream #0.3[0x90f](eng): Subtitle: dvbsub

When I drag the video into the pitivi window the gnome-codec-install wizard starts but errors with:-

"No packages with the requested plugins found

The requested plugins are:

application/x-mpegts-private-section decoder
private/teletext decoder"

Marked this a dupe of bug #327872 for the generic issue of "mpeg TS is failsauce in gstreamer", but see also Bug #505509 for the codec autodetection issue (not specific to mpeg TS).

Same issue here, I can not edit a Mythbuntu file with PiTiVi.
Well, the video is fine, and VLC can play it, if you simply ignore the teletext decoder plugin search.
Couldn't we have a quick fix to ignore seraching for the teletext decoder plugin - I guess teletext is mostly irrelevant when playing or editing videos. bug #327872 seems to be much more generic and maybe we do not wait that long.
