Bug Description
10.04 beta 2 worked OK on a thinkpad X40, until I updated the kernel. Then it (re)booted to blank screen.
Live 10.04 CD (RC) does the same.
I am using a different system, because the X40 is not functional.

Thinkpad X40 has the same graphic card with my BenQ Joybook 5000U laptop: intel integrated graphics card (82852/855GM series) Your description maches bug 568779 precisely, so I think this is a duplicate of bug #568779.
