package ubuntu-desktop 1.200 failed to install/upgrade: error writing to '<standard output>': No such file or directory

Upgraded to Maverick Kernel, because the laptop I am using - IBM Thinkpad R50e seemed to have trouble with the Video.

Now I am facing intermittent crashes - dmesg, does not have any meaningful output for me to share with you either.
