Bug Description

I have the akonadi-based address book in Kontact working, at least initially. The problem is that with extended usage, it stops working: sometimes it won't let me add a new contact, other times it presents blank information for every kontact in the database. A reboot fixes the problem, at least temporarily.

I have errors in my .xsession-errors that suggest I'm seeing the phenomenon reported here:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=242371

I do not yet have a method for reproducing this problem.

More detail: from the command line, "akonadictl restart" (as user, not root) also works to restore lost functionality.

The following Debian bug report seems to have made considerable progress (scroll down to the bottom half):
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=580706
It seems the problem may be in libmysqlclient16. I have not yet tried the internal MySQL server.

Correction: when I run the akonadi server configuration, the "Use internal MySQL server" was already checked.

When doing "akonadictl restart" from the command line, I noticed the following point of concern:
[akonadiserver] /usr/bin/mysql_upgrade: Can't create/write to file 'sqleqPSEt' (Errcode: 13)
[akonadiserver] FATAL ERROR: Failed to create temporary file for defaults

However, a "akonadictl status" then reveals that it is running.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates.

The provided KDE report https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=242371
is marked as fixed. Also in the Debian reports progress has been made.

So, it would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect 604669 and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
